Missing NOLA chef, feared dead, reappears while local news crews are reporting on his disappearance NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It's the twist no one saw coming: 48-year-old Demietriek Scott, known in his New Orleans community as "Chef Scott," returned to the site of his food truck on Monday after being declared missing — and feared dead.It had been a rollercoaster of emotions for Scott's family. He had been reported missing on June 10, after his loved ones said they hadn't seen or heard from him in weeks.Earlier on Monday, Scott's family had also been called to the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office to identify a body that had been discovered in the Florida Area neighborhood of NOLA. North Austin neighbors consider lawsuit against city AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A group of neighbors in the Little Walnut Creek area of north Austin said they are frustrated with the lack of communication from the city and are strongly considering a lawsuit after their homes were damaged in a flooding event. "It's easy to come here and see the damages and walk away and live your own life as the city. But we're stuck here," Dustin Grant, one of the homeowners, said. "We live this every day." Grant said his home received about $150,000 of damage. His backyard fence was pushed down by rushing flood waters, his floor had to be ripped up after three inches of water got into the house, and he is now using his camping gear as a makeshift kitchen until his house is fixed. He is one of the 60 homes that were damaged during an April 20 storm. Houston police K-9 dies from heat exhaustion HOUSTON (KXAN) -- The Houston Police Department confirmed Tuesday that one of its K-9 dogs, Aron, passed away due to heat exhaustion.Aron was a four-year-old K-9 dog who had worked with the department for one-and-a-half years. The handler left Aron in a running and air-conditioned patrol vehicle, which HPD said was a "necessary and common practice when the K-9 partner is not actively engaged in police work."Aron's police handler returned to the patrol vehicle and found the engine had shut off. Aron was taken to an emergency veterinarian clinic, where the dog ultimately died of heat exhaustion. HPD said K-9 vehicles are designed to notify the handler, sound horns and active cooling fans while rolling down the windows if the vehicle's engine turns off. The department confirmed this didn't happen in this incident, and police officials are investigating what went wrong.
